Probably the most popular of Lily's fountains,
Gladys Hat is ideal for both ponds and for water features where open
water is being avoided.
She helps create scale, for instance in a small
courtyard garden, and while it is a shame to put her into a corner (she
has such a lovely rear view, after all), she can work well with the
triangular base which a corner creates. (You can always put mirrors
on the wall for a glimpse of her from behind)
Her hat is set at a slightly jaunty angle, so
the water pours from a flower on the side of the brim and runs round
the back of the hat. It then flows off both sides if the pump pressure
is set right. Turn it up more, and the "trickling" Gladys
becomes a "spurter" like Gladys Fish.
HOW IS GLADYS CAST?
Gladys has a thread in the bottom of each leg,
so she can be fixed to a stone base or plinth. She is cast in bronze
resin and can be finished with either a polished bronze or verdigris
patina.
